Park City’s Dog Dive is Intriguing
I was researching the impact to the Park Record of Apple’s latest iPhone update. For the first time, the iPhone will be able to block ads, which is causing many website publishers to freak out. More on that later. However, I came across an ad for a business that will be opening near Pinebrook that caught …
What to Do After a Dog Attacks
I was walking with my 15 year old dog, 3 year old boy (dressed as a dragon), and toddler this morning when I witnessed an australian shepherd dog grab another dog by the scruff of its neck and started yanking the other dog back and forth by its neck. Fortunately the victim (dog) escaped into a pond, …
Bark City Ain’t What She Used To Be
Another week… another article in the Park Record about a bad dog. This time a person scrambled up a tree to avoid an aggressive dog by the library. If you read the article’s comments, they’re a mix of “the city needs to control dogs” and “it’s Bark City, get over it.” I think both miss the …
The Park City Area has 66% LESS Dog Bites Than Average America
Over the past few years, the Park City and Summit County governments have been trying to figure out what to do about off-leash dogs. Summit County Council’s Comments on Dogs are Becoming White Noise
In Wednesday’s Park Record, the Summit County Council wrote an editorial on dogs. The title, “Self Regulation By Dog Owners is Best Solution” got us excited. We also believe the “war on dogs”, which was started by the Summit County Council a couple of years ago is rightfully over. There’s an off leash dog park that you can actually hike with your four-legged companions and rules regarding …
Jeremy Ranch Residents Appear to Be Fighting Back Against New Dog Park
A couple of weeks ago we reported on a field in Jeremy Ranch, near Woods at Parleys, that had been turned into a dog park by Basin Rec. The change upset neighbors because they had been using it for playing with their children, among other things. Now that wasn’t an option. We’ve heard a recent report …
Cathy Clark Has Left Friends of Animals
We heard some unfortunate news today. It appears within the last couple of days Cathy Clark has resigned from Friends of Animal Utah. Cathy had been Director of Operations for a number of years.
Can We Please End the War on Dogs?
Did you know every 3 minutes someone is viciously attacked by a dog in Park City… or so you might think if you read editorials in the Park Record and visit Park City’s Suggestion website, “Let’s Talk Park City”. For instance, there is this gem on letstalkparkcity.com, “Tired of people who think it’s o Kay to …
The County is Barking up the Wrong Tree
On Wednesday the Summit County Council will learn more about three alternatives proposed by the Leash Law Task Force to help solve “the dog problem” in Summit County. Unfortunately, the real problem is that the most reasonable alternative isn’t even on the table.
